Educational Qualifications for Bangladesh Navy Commissioned Officer Posts

1. Electrical Branch – Male

a. Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Electrical / Electronics / Electrical and Electronics / Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from a government-recognized reputed university. They must have obtained the minimum CGPA prescribed by the Commission for entry into service, which is CGPA 4.00 (4-point scale) or an equivalent grade point of 3.00 (5-point scale).

Alternatively, candidates from a foreign education system must have obtained minimum Grade A in any three subjects, minimum Grade B in any three subjects, and an overall equivalent minimum CGPA of 3.00 (5-point scale).

b. Appointment:
After final selection, candidates will be appointed as Permanent Commissioned Officers in the rank of Acting Sub-Lieutenant.

2. Accounts Branch (Commerce Subject) – Male and Female

a. Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Accounting / Management / Finance from a government-recognized reputed university. They must have obtained the minimum CGPA prescribed by the Commission, which is CGPA 4.00 (4-point scale) or equivalent grade point 3.00 (5-point scale).

Alternatively, candidates from a foreign education system must have obtained minimum Grade A in any three subjects, minimum Grade B in any three subjects, and an overall equivalent minimum CGPA of 3.00 (5-point scale).

b. Appointment:
After final selection, candidates will be appointed as Acting Sub-Lieutenant under a Short Service Commission for five (05) years.

3. Education Branch (Engineering) – Male and Female

a. Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) and, where applicable, a Master’s degree from a government-recognized public or private university in any of the following disciplines:

  1. Computer Science and Engineering

  2. Electrical Engineering

  3. Civil Engineering

Candidates must meet the minimum CGPA prescribed by the Commission, which is CGPA 4.00 (4-point scale) or equivalent grade point 3.00 (5-point scale).

Alternatively, candidates from a foreign education system must have obtained minimum Grade A in any three subjects, minimum Grade B in any three subjects, and an overall equivalent minimum CGPA of 3.00 (5-point scale).

b. Appointment:
After final selection, candidates will be appointed as Acting Sub-Lieutenant under a Short Service Commission for five (05) years.

4. Education Branch (Medical) – Male

a. Educational Qualification:
Candidates must have an MBBS degree from a government-recognized medical college and must have completed internship. They must have obtained a minimum CGPA of 4.00 (5-point scale) in SSC and HSC or equivalent examinations.

Alternatively, candidates from an English-medium background must have obtained minimum Grade A in any three subjects, minimum Grade B in any three subjects, and an overall equivalent minimum CGPA of 3.00 (5-point scale).

b. Verification Test:
Candidates must pass a written examination and verification test prior to the initial medical examination.

c. Appointment:
After final selection, candidates will be appointed as Acting Sub-Lieutenant under a Short Service Commission for five (05) years.
