Eligibility Criteria for M.Phil. Program
Applicants for the M.Phil. program must satisfy the following educational requirements:- Fazil & Kamil Level: Must hold a Fazil (Honours/Pass) degree and a Kamil (Master’s) degree from Islamic Arabic University or any recognized university, with a minimum of 50% marks or a CGPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 / CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 in both examinations.
- Dakhil & Alim Level: Must have at least a 2nd Division or a GPA of 3.50 out of 5.00 in both Dakhil (or equivalent) and Alim (or equivalent) examinations.
- Third Division Policy: Candidates with a 3rd division or class in any level of their academic career are ineligible to apply.
- Foreign Degree Holders: Applicants with foreign degrees or international students must obtain an Equivalence Certificate from IAU’s Certificate Equivalence Committee prior to applying.
Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Program
To apply directly for the Ph.D. program, candidates must fulfill any one of the following alternative criteria:Option 1: Degree-Based Qualification
- Must hold an M.Phil. or an equivalent degree from a recognized university.
Option 2: Teaching Experience & Published Research
- Must have at least 3 years of teaching experience at the Fazil or Kamil level in a university or affiliated madrasa/institution.
- Must have at least 2 First Divisions/Classes (CGPA 3.00 out of 4.00 / CGPA 3.50 out of 5.00) throughout their academic life.
- Must have a minimum of 2 published research articles in recognized journals.
Option 3: Research or Job Experience
- Must have at least 3 years of research experience at a recognized research institute OR at least 3 years of job experience in a government, semi-government, autonomous, or private organization.
- Must possess a minimum of 2 First Divisions/Classes in their academic record and 2 published research papers in recognized journals.
Note on Ph.D. Coursework Examination: Ph.D. applicants applying under options other than holding an M.Phil. degree must appear for a 100-mark course examination in Research Methodology and secure a minimum passing mark of 40%.
